Sewing Machines for Novice Sewer

Believe it or not but sewing machines aren’t essential – traditional kimonos are hand sewn – but they certainly save time!

If you are a beginner sewer looking for a machine my advice is to ask around and see if you can borrow one to start with provided it works well. Otherwise, contact your local sewing machine mechanic and buy a second-hand reconditioned machine.

The old machines are made of steel, heavy and more fundamental – perfect for the novice sewer. Save all the fancy stitches for later 😊

As long as the stitch has the correct tension it's perfect, even if it's decades old.

Happy sewing!
